You would have heard about this over and over again. Google always shows related ads. But at some point all of us face the problem where the appropriate ads are not shown. When this happens you can both write to Google and tell them about it or you can implement section targeting.

Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you’d like us to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site’s content. By providing Google with your suggestions, you ll improve your ad targeting. We recommend that only those familiar with HTML attempt to
implement section targeting.

To implement section targeting, you’ll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code to mark the beginning
and end of whichever section(s) you’d like to emphasize or ignore for ad targeting. The tags and instructions for adding them to your HTML code can be found at http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23168

Waiting for a reply from Google can be painful and section targeting might not be your cup of tea (wasn t ours either ). So we wrote to Google and asked them if we could keywords to my URL as this seemed to help. Here we ll demonstrate how the ads differ:

Here as you notice that the ads shown by the URL with the keywords is more targeted when compared to the one which does not have the keywords.
Google agreed to this, but they also put a note of caution saying that we better keep our key words targeted. Of course we would keep our keywords targeted, as we know, that targeted ads convert much better than anything else . You can Achieve this by appending your URL s with ?k1 = keyword1&k2=keyword2 .
Here keyword1 and keyword2 will be replaced by your actual keywords, Don t use more than 2 keywords, as you ll end up confusing bot and end up where you started, untargeted ads
