A safelist is a traffic exchange system for E-mails. When you subscribe to a safelist you agree to receive other people ads, in the other hand, people will agree to receive your ads. By opening people ads and clicking on certain links, you will get credit, and you can use those credits to mail people back.So it’s a like traffic exchange, but for mailing! And the same rules for TE apply here. Don’t mail a long sales letter, but just a splash page or a short mail that could be read in 5 seconds or less.

There are two types of safelists, credit mailing and normal mailing :

• For credit mailing, you have to click on a link inside the E-mail to gain credits for your own use. That means that the person will visit your site anyway. Try putting a nice splash page to oblige your prospect into spending more time with your offer.

• For normal mailing, your Ad will be sent to the entire list, but poeple don’t earn credits for clicking. So you have to be really imaginative concerning the headline : ), the nice thing is that when a person click on your ad to open it, it means they are really interested by the offer. You can then directly put a sales page, but always have a leader capture page within this sales page offering free stuff. At the very least, you will capture his E-mail ; )

Reach thousands of people every day

When you subscribe to any safelist, they will ask you for 2 mails : the contact mail and the safelist mail. It’s better to create 2 new mails account for both of them. In the safelists E-mail you will receive thousands of mails each day, in the contact mail, you will receive 2 ad per week. But if you subscribe to 10 safelists, this number can grow to became one ad per day or more.

You can just login once a week in your contact mail to click on the ads and earn credit. But you need to consistently login into your safelists mails if you want to gain credit. What I normally do is this : As a first step, I go through my safelist mail clicking on ads and earning credit, then I scan the ads quickly to find any interesting headlines or E-mail where I can pick little gems to use later in safelists or in my other ads effort.

Again you can use the Splash page from HIT, and again I advice you to create your own splash pages. See the HIT ones for inspiration, then create your owns. One thing to keep in mind : It’s a number game! Please read this again : it’s all about numbers…You won’t get results for 400 mailed prospects, you WILL get results for 3000 mailed prospects. Of course, this suppose that you have a good sales E-mail and a good headline.

The Best Places To Find Safelists

As a general guideline, always start by subscribing to your HIT safelists, and then sign-up for a free account in TrafficHoopla and subscribe for the TOP 10 of safelists. TrafficHoopla does a wonderful job of ranking safelists each week, so you don’t have to test these safelists by yourself, all the testing have been already done by TrafficHoopla.

My personal two favorite safelists –the ones I’m getting consistent results with are MadVlad and GuaranteedResults4U, I’ve upgraded in both of them.

My SafeList Guaranteed Succees Blueprint :

• Create 2 new E-mails accounts, avoid yahoo, hotmail. Gmail is the perfect solution for safelists. E-mail me if you need an invite.
• Subscribe to all the safelists in HIT and TrafficHoopla.
• Update your referrer ID in the specific pages of HIT and TrafficHoopla.
• Open firefox and set a navigation session with multiples tabs for all the safelists (all of this is discussed more in depth in Soren tutorial, here’s a direct link : Soren Tutorial, don’t say I don’t care about you : )).
• Read some of the mails in your safelist account and earn credit.
• Create your ad and your splash page.
• In each menu of the safelists, you will find a “Credit mailer”, click there and send your mail.
• After you complete sending by credit mailer in all safelists, use normal mailing. Normal mailing can be used once every 2 days in most of the safelists

My little FAQ About SafeLists :

A little FAQ I put up for you, with few of the same questions I’ve asked myself before getting the answers from the experts (Thanks Soren ; ) ).

What should I put in my credit link ?
A lead capture pages or a splash page. The key is that there should only be one possible action. Either sing up for my newsletter or click to visit my site.

Which safelists should I upgrade ?
All the safelists will provide you with upgrade option. Upgrading means being able to send your mails more often, being able to send mails to the contact E-mail, having the possibility to send your mails in HTML. I personally upgraded in GuaranteedResults4U and MadVlad and I’m very satisfied with both of them. GuaranteedResults4U offers a one time life upgrade that’s pretty interesting, you will get with that a bunch of free tools, a yahoo groups mailer, an auto-submitter and you will be able to mail the entire list each hour.

I remain skeptic on the use of the auto-submitter(an auto-submitter automatically submit your ads to hundreds of safelists) and the yahoo groups mailer(same but with yahoo groups), but I know that I’m getting real value using the normal and credit mailer. MadVlad is known to be one of the most responsive safelists, and if you were never to upgrade, I think that you will get the biggest value from the MadVlat safelists.

But a general guideline is : If you can mail the entire membership often and use HTML as a free member, there is no reason to upgrade. Upgrade in the safelists that give you the biggest benefits. As a rule of thumb, do not upgrade in a safelist not listed in Traffic Hoopla.

How to know if a safelist is dead ?
Seriously, you don’t know ? Ok for the last time, use AD TRACKING ! But good ad trackers that allow you to see where the traffic is coming from. So if your send the same mail to 10 safelist and that 8 pulls 1000 clicks and one 58 clicks, you know which safelist you must drop now : ).

When To Mail My Safelists ?
Try to mail them in the evening. If you are running a promotion related to a certain country, be sure to check worldclock.com before mailing. Or your mails will risk ending in the trash without even being opened.

Should I use HTML or not ?
Always use HTML when you can. The good thing about HTML is that you will capture the reader attention more easily by creating user-friendly pages. Don’t forget to bring out your links in a more appealing way using HTML formating possibilities (red sells!).

Quick Tips from the experts : Each time you see a good headline, or a good mail save it! Which headlines did capture your attetion ? Save them! Which HTML E-mail interested you ? Save it. Then create your own pages based on those.

Track your safelists

One last thing, once you get used to all these safelists and traffic exchanges, start tracking all your ads. This way, you can know what sales letter are effective, which headlines attract people, which safelists are responsive and which are dead. Remember that Traffic Exchange surfing and SafeList mailing should became a daily habit! You need to work it at first, but once you have a strong downline, you can just… RELAX : )
